INSPIRATION
Nature
The individual units found on a dandelion puff is one way of illustrating how the light installation could look, where the center of the sphere is a light source and the floating seeds are the individual vessels that participants attach.

Inspiration - BigBambu2
Big Bambu was a roof top exhibit displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in which Doug and Mike Starn continuously added to the structure, eventually creating an overwhelming bamboo structure. The organic growth of their structure inspired how the light instillation could also organically grow in that the participants determine where vessels of liquid are attached and how the final installation will look. I liked the idea that installation could be influenced by the community and was a way of gathering people together in darkness. The change of the streetscape over the night from single suspended lights to a large web could be risky but very interesting to watch.

TONIC WATER LIGHT
One method of augmenting light also included liquids but focused more on producing a different kind of light rather than a more efficient way of distributing light. The light produced mimics the neon color of bioluminescence. The liquids in the photo are tonic water (blue) and Monster energy drink (yellow/green).

PLEXI SHARDS LIGHT
Another method of augmenting light involved passing the light through a clear liquid medium like water or plexi shards. The fiber optic effects or magnification properties of the materials help distribute the light, which potentially allows for a smaller light source and more efficiency.

LIGHT PROPOSALS

The light installation would include liquids to augment light sources. Individual vessels that might need to be produced to give to the public to build the light installation.Sketch of how a web structure could potentially look
